Sector «Kizhi Necklace»
‘The Kizhi Necklace’ exposition sector.
Several architectural monuments of the Kizhi Museum are located in the vicinity of Kizhi Island, on such neighboring islands as Bolshoi Klimetsky Island, Volkostrov Island, Eglov Island, as well as on the continental part of the Zaonezhye Peninsula.
These are mainly chapels which were initially located in the neighbouring Kizhi villages known from the 16 th century. They are often called the chapels of ‘the Kizhi Necklace’, which is a metaphor comparing the buildings located around the architectural ensemble of the Kizhi Pogost with a string of a precious beads.
This unique collection of chapels was gradually formed during 18th — 19th centuries.

- The windmill from the village of Tolvuya, located in the village of Seredka
- The Chapel of the Mother of God the ‘Consolation of All the Afflicted from the village of Yeglovo
- The Chapel of the Annunciation (the ‘Sign’ of the Mother of God) from the village of Korba
- Sts. Kyrik and Iulita Chapel from the village of Vorobjy
- The Chapel of Sts. Paraskeva and Varlaam of Khutyn from the village of Podyelniki
- The chapel of St. Peter and Paul from the village of Nasonovshchina
