Sector «Pryazhinsky»
The museum exposition sector which represents the Karelian culture is located on the eastern shore of the Kizhi Island, near the Dudkin Navolok peninsula. The Karelians are one of the indigenous ethnicities which inhabited the territory of Karelia since pre-Christian times.
The Karelian exposition sector represents the culture of southern Karelia (Pryazhinsky district). It shows a typical peasant farmstead of late XIX – early XX centuries. The central element of the sector is the house of peasant Yakovlev, built in 1980’s-1990’s in the village of Klescheila near the village of Vedlozero by a team of local carpenters with the help of Maxim Yakovlev, the owner of the house.
