The granary is located on the south-east shore of Kizhi Island to the North from the house of peasant Yakovlev.Its main facade with a doorway is directed to the road leading to the village of Yamka. The structure is practically square parallelepiped covered with a symmetric gable roof. The main facade has a pediment, a cut air-hole and a doorway located at a level of the third row of logs. Three other facades are blank without windows and door openings. The first row of logs of the granary facing the wall has 4 grains and stairs leading to the second tier. Walls are constructed according to the traditional method called “v oblo”.Planked roof is fixed without use of nails and has archaic household structure. Ceilings are laid upon outriggers of the upper logs of the face walls of the structure. Roofing boards are laid on the solid timbered row of logs with a trapezoidal form. The granary is an example of the most archaic household structure typical for the districts of Karelia with indigenous Karelian population in XVIII-XIX century.
