The granary is located on the territory of the ‘Pudozhsky’ sector of the Kizhi museum within a the peasant Potashev's farmstead. It is a rectangular parallelepiped with a square foundation, covered with a two-sloping roof. It is a typical one-cell and one-floor granary for crops storage with a fore-roof above the entrance.

The walls do not expand in their upper parts; the nailless roof is fixed with the house logs making up the pediments, poles bearing roof timber, and ledgers making up solid roof sheeting. The entrance door is made in the front western wall. In front of the entrance door there is a platform with one-sloping fore-roof above it, supported by round pillars and ends of framework logs protruding from the walls. Small windows are cut through triangular pediments of the granary. The door has three jambs and a small opening at the bottom for a cat to get inside the granary, small windows (air-holes) are shut with sliding inner shutters. The foundation is made of boulders fixed with concrete. The walls are made of logs fixed according to the traditional method called ‘v oblo’, (i.e. with the logs’ ends protruding from the edges of the walls in the corners). The roof is made of two layers of thin planks, the ceiling is made of half-timber supported by beams, the grain-bins are made of smoothly chipped boards. Such granary used to be a typical household for Russian farmsteads of the Pudozhye District in Karelia at the end of 19th century. It has a number of characteristic features, such as a fore-roof above the entrance, air-holes with sliding shutters and ledgers making up solid roof sheeting.

The internal walls are hewed at grain-bins height. The first-level bins are located along the eastern wall, the second-level bins – along the western one. There is a ladder without rails leading to the second floor.

The roof comb and the poles bearing roof timber are smoothly chipped without any decorations, the carved pegs fixing the roof comb are made in the shape of two flattened cones with a cylinder between them.
