The basis of the design of the structure is a parallelepiped-shaped rectangle covered with a gable roof. The entrance is a two-leaved gate in the end wall; close to the gate is a big window.
There is a forge inside, with bellows near the end wall; an anvil is in the center and a tooling shelf is by the window.
The structure is set on a loose-rock foundation according to dry-stack wall technique.
The log framework is assembled of pine logs notched at the corners according to the traditional method with the log ends protruding or extending beyond the corners of each wall (a notch joint called in Russian ‘v oblo’). The structure is covered with a nailed gable roof. Earth floor is found inside.
