This type of a house is called in Russian ‘brus’, i.e. a rectangle framework in plan, within which successively are located the habitable part in front, the anteroom in the middle and the section including household areas behind. In the case under consideration the household section is widened. The basis of the design of the structure is a parallelepiped-shaped rectangle; the habitable part is covered with a symmetrical gable roof, the section for household with asymmetrical slopes (the southern one is elongated). Both of the roofs share the same ridge-pole. The habitable part is two-storied, divided by the main longitudinal wall into ‘izba’ and ‘gornitsa’ on both of the floors; there are complementary rooms in the halls on both of the floors, as well.

The household section is two-storied, the lower floor is allotted for cattle-sheds and a farm-yard, the upper floor is for various needs (a workshop, hay-loft etc.); there are store-rooms in the projecting part of the household section, on both of the floors. The ramp to the upper floor links on from the south at right angle to the side wall.

The roof is a nailless construction; the household section is supported by pillars. The house is built of pine logs fixed according to the traditional method with the logs’ ends protruding from the edges of the walls in the corners (a notch joint called in Russian ‘v oblo’).

The face wall of the house of peasant Pertyakov from the village of Ust-Yandoma numbers six windows. An attic window looks from the front pediment, a balcony is located underneath. The main entrance to the house is a porch with one flight of three steps, void of a balustrade, the porch links on to the house from the south, a balcony is located above. It is supported by three pillars, covered with a separate shed roof that rests on three spirally twisted posts. The balcony is abundantly ornamented with fretwork.

The ornamentation of the face wall is moderate. Decorative window trim (shutters, head and sill pieces) are flat balusters.
