Protection status: monument is located on the original place, it is under local protection.

The building was built in 1893 for the surgical department of the district hospital. The project was developed most probably by the technicians of the town council Mr. Prushavsky and Ratkov. It is set on the frontage line on Fedosovoy Street and occupies the angular position in the quarters. Thus, it completes a series of hospital buildings on the side of Neglinka River. This is a two-storey log building, planked with a profiled board. It has a rubble foundation, the basement is not boarded, and there is no blind area. The roof is framed and covered with sheet iron; overhead covers set on the beams are wooden and flat. The main facade is asymmetrical and has two projections (risalits). A small triangular pediment is set above the central portion of one of these risalits. It is decorated with carved fascia boards and towel-boards on each side. Facades feature horizontal rods. Corners have attached columns (pilasters).

The description of the building made in 1894 mentions that ‘there are five rooms on each of the floors. On the upper floor, there were three wards where male patients are placed, one of them is big, and two others are small, an operating room, and a special room for doctor's assistant on duty. Female patients are placed on the lower floor in two rooms, as well as dressing ward, receiving room and a room with a stove and boiler for sterilization. Besides that, these two floors are equipped with a bathroom and toilet each’.

G.Romm was the first surgeon in this hospital. He set to work in 1890, performed herniotomy, stomach and bowels surgery, and operated even on skeletal system which was quite a difficult issue for those times. After Romm G.D. had left the hospital, surgeons Kulyabko-Koretsky A.G., Michailov N.N., Gurevich N.I. worked there. Gurevich organized “The Society of doctors in Olonets province” (1904). In 1904, Isserson M.D. became the senior surgeon and first otolaryngologist in the hospital, and he headed surgical department of the hospital for years. He raised a generation of brilliant surgeons in Karelia: A. Baranov, R.A. Vilenskaya, P.A.Lvov. And it was he who arranged first X-ray room.

The building was completely dismantled and then reassembled in the 80-s, a new foundation was laid.

Designing firm “LAD” has been recently located in the building, the Kizhi Museum got the tenant right and adopted the premises for a number of own departments.

The works were completed by the firm “SUNAR” (Director Kostin A.V., overseer Stepanov N.V.) The premises with a total area of 356 sq.meters have been repaired, the funds allocated by the Government exceeded 6,5 mln RUB.

The works on replanning and interior decoration, arrangement of a new water supply system, sewage system, heating, ventilation, and electrical equipment have been performed.

Thanks to these efforts, Museum Tour-Guide Office, Pedagogy Department, Security, Archives, and Folklore Theater have been accommodated in the building on Fedosova street, 15. since 2010. This is for the first time that Folklore Theater has a room for rehearsals, and Museum’s Children Center has premises for a Museum educational center where young residents of Petrozavodsk and Karelia will have a chance to feel the culture of Kizhi before visiting the island proper. Modern education premises are available for tour-guides now.
