The Islands of Uima
The islands are situated 4 km to the east of Kizhi Island and to the north of the Island of Dolgyi. They are surrounded by shallow water; there are a lot of boggy plots, stands of reed and other limnological plants. Broad-leaved trees in various combinations are widely spread here – linden, two species of elm, black alder. At the same time, tree species very common in Karelia grow here. Among bushes and grass, there are a variety of rare elements. Wetland and meadows are nesting sites for divers, fish ducks, golden-eyes and other duck species.
