Moshguba Bog
The bog is situated in the northern part of Kizhi Island. It has resulted from overgrowing of Moshguba Bay after the decrease of Lake Onega level.
The central part is a glade with typical species while the coastal part is very wet and it is occupied by horsetails and mud sedges. Some rare plant species occur here, for example yellow iris that is under protection in Karelia. The bog is a habitat for numerous birds. It is a nesting site of various waterfowl and birds living near water, the most abundant are gulls (5 species).
