Zamoshiye Bog
The bog is situated on the mainland of the protected area of Kizhi Museum. This is a typical for Zaonezhye fen with the wooded coast. It is located between two ridges and actually the bog is overgrown bay of Onega Lake. Its peat deposits store very valuable paleographic information on the nature development of this area during the postglacial period. The bog cover is very rich in species, including rare plants. There are a lot of different bird species related to the local wetlands. Of special value are colonies of big curlews and gray skylarks, included into Red Book of Karelia.
