Kizhi Museum working hours, conduct and safety rules



The KIZHI Open-air museum is open for visitors all the year round. Open hours:
- Summer (1.06 – 31.08) - 8-20;
- Autumn (1.09 – 15.10) - 9-16;
- Winter (16.10 – 14.05) – 10-15;
- Spring (15.05 – 30.05) – 9-16,
no dinner-hour, 7 days a week.
Conduct and safety rules
Dear visitors,
Kizhi Island is an object of cultural heritage under the special guard. The whole island is an open-air museum of architecture and cultural history. To preserve this precious heritage we ask you to follow some regulations at your being on the island:
- Leave your big bags, suitcases, and packages in the cabin.
- Follow the recommendations of the museum custodians, guides, security, police and firemen.
- Do not litter.
On the island are not allowed:
- any commercial activity
- professional and commercial shooting using tripods and powerful flashes
- unauthorized guiding
- advertising
- using open fire (campfires, blowtorches, small kerosene stoves)
- smoking, swimming and mooring (except at specially marked places)
- visiting museum in the state of alcoholic and narcotic intoxication
- damaging museum labels, plans and schemes
- bringing in plain weapon, firearm, explosives and inflammable fluids
- touching museum exhibits (icons, objects of applied arts, household utensils).
In case of violation of the above regulations visitors can be fined by the museum security or police.
The regulations are based on recommendations of the International Committee on Museum Security.
